Referral marketing is a marketing method whereby you promote products or services to new prospects through referrals. Referral marketing is basically like the “word of mouth” marketing. By using the right strategies with referrals marketing, your business can go far.

The key to be effective in Referral Marketing are your referrals. And when we think of referrals, we immediately think of our existing clients. No one can sing better praises about your products than your existing clients. However, these clients aren’t really motivated. They just talk about it in passing to friends and refer you to them but they won’t be really determined to makes their friends go to you. Hence, finding motivated people to work on referrals is essential.

Aside from having referrals, what else do you really need to make Referral Marketing a very effective marketing technique to help expand your business?

If you watched a good movie, wouldn’t you recommend your friends to watch it? In the same way, having a good product is essential. It should have a huge benefit to the customers using it, referrals will start coming to you. Basically, no one will even refer you if the people who tried it are not satisfied or happy with it. So why bother their family and friends to come try your product, right?

There are so many books, courses and seminars on Referral marketing that teaches us how to ask for referrals.  However, there is more than that which you need to have. Make your customers feel special. Give them incentives in the form of freebies for any referral they provide, and do not be overly focused how you can make them refer you to someone else. Value them as an individual and as a customers and referrals will come as they should.

Give your customers something to talk about. Tell them something with sense and relevance, like the features of the products you are selling, the charities you are sponsoring, or the events you are organizing. This way, a great relationship or a bond can be formed. And you can see if you and them connect. This relationship could go way beyond business, but personal, which is a good thing.

By using Referral Marketing appropriately to your customers, your business’ sales could increase in no time. Whenever someone referred to you their family and friends, show them your appreciation immediately. This way, they will be motivated to bring again somebody as their referrals.

    Very good tips here! You make excellent points regarding the use of good referrals. I think that it’s all in how we address individuals which makes the difference, but we need to remember that we are in business and that referrals are an essential element into keeping that business afloat!
